WONDERCIDE® EFFICACY STUDIES ON FLEAS, TICKS, AND MOSQUITOES

This product performance data applies to all scents (Cedar, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Rosemary) of the following Wondercide products:

  • Flea & Tick Spray for Pets + Home
  • Indoor Pest Control for Home + Kitchen
  • Insect Repellent for Family.

TESTING STANDARDS: All efficacy testing was performed by third-party, independent, USA labs in the spirit of GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards. Tests were performed as double-blind studies including a control, and in some cases, a leading brand (competitor) product. In vitro (lab) testing methods were used to assess product performance while avoiding animal testing, which is against Wondercide’s ethics policy.

WONDERCIDE® IS PROVEN TO KILL FLEA ADULTS, LARVAE, AND EGGS

SUMMARY: Wondercide formulations proved 100%* effective at killing fleas when applied as a direct spray application, making it a highly effective flea control solution for pets and homes. Testing showed 99%* mortality of the most common domestic flea species within 2 minutes, and 100%* mortality at 15 minutes, maintained at 24 hours. The leading plant-based competitor (containing clove as active ingredient) achieved only 54% efficacy within 2 minutes, with mortality decreasing to 14% at 15 minutes and 2% at 24 hours.

  • STUDY: Flea Direct Spray
  • OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the toxicity of the test substances when applied as direct spray applications against cat fleas (Ctenocephalides felis), the most common flea found on domestic animals (dogs, cats, small animals) worldwide.
  • QUANTITY: 300 cat fleas
  • DESIGN & OBSERVATIONS: Test formulations were applied to the fleas at label rate. Observations for mortality were made at several intervals throughout a 24 hour period.

WONDERCIDE® IS 99%* EFFECTIVE AT PREVENTING FLEA EGGS FROM HATCHING

SUMMARY: Wondercide is 99%* effective at preventing fleas from hatching into larvae, making it a highly effective flea life cycle control solution for pets and homes. Measured at 14 days, formulations prevented 99%* of cat flea eggs from hatching when applied as a direct spray application.

  • STUDY: Flea Eggs Direct Spray
  • OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the toxicity of the test substances when applied as direct spray applications against the egg stage of cat fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and the effects on larval emergence.
  • QUANTITY: 625 eggs of cat fleas
  • DESIGN & OBSERVATIONS: Test formulations were applied to the eggs at label rate. Observations for desiccated eggs were made at 4 hours and then once daily for 14 days.

SUMMARY: Wondercide formulations proved 100%* effective at killing and preventing ticks when applied as a direct spray application, making it a highly effective tick control solution for pets and homes. Testing showed 100%* mortality at 24 hours. Measured at 4 hours, formulations killed 100%* of brown dog tick nymphs, effectively eliminating the full tick life cycle.

  • STUDY: Brown Dog Ticks and Nymphs Direct Spray
  • OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the toxicity of the test substances when applied as direct spray applications against the adult and nymphal stages of the brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus), the most widely distributed tick in the world and found throughout the USA.
  • QUANTITY: 150 brown dog tick adults, 150 brown dog tick nymphs
  • DESIGN & OBSERVATIONS: Test formulations were applied to the adult ticks and nymphs at label rate. Observations for mortality were made at 4 hours and 24 hours.

SUMMARY: Testing showed formulations are 99%* effective at repelling brown dog ticks when applied as a direct spray and allowing 15 minutes of dry time, making it a highly effective tick repellency solution for pets and homes.

  • STUDY: Repellency Effect on Brown Dog Ticks with Aged Intervals
  • OBJECTIVE: To measure the repellency of the test substance against brown dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus).
  • QUANTITY: 120 brown dog tick adults
  • DESIGN & OBSERVATIONS: Test formulations were applied to cowhide swatches at label rate. Ticks that crawled onto the test substance were considered to be on the “treated” area and anywhere outside of the substance that ticks traveled was considered the “un-treated” area. Controls and treatments were evaluated as both a fresh (15 min dry time) and 2 hour aged evaluation.

WONDERCIDE® IS 98-100%* EFFECTIVE AT REPELLING MOSQUITOES

SUMMARY: Wondercide formulations proved 98%* effective at repelling mosquitoes when applied as a direct spray application, making it a highly effective mosquito control solution for pets and people. Testing showed Wondercide prevented 95% of landings and 98%* of probes from Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, where 3 of 4 Wondercide scents had 100%* repellency.

  • STUDY: Repellency Effect of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes
  • OBJECTIVE: To measure the repellency associated with the test substances against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti) after 1 hour dry time.
  • QUANTITY: 600 Aedes aegypti mosquitoes
  • DESIGN & OBSERVATIONS: Test formulations were applied to cowhide swatches at label rate. The test surface was mounted to frame and mesh was placed on backside of test surface to prevent direct contact with human test subjects arm. Mosquitoes were held without food at least 2 hours prior to testing. Observations for repellency were made at 1 hour.
  • CONTROL: Increased landings and probes by 15% and 5%, respectively
  • COMPARISON: Leading insect repellent containing 7% DEET achieved 100%* efficacy, making Wondercide® on par with conventional insect repellents.
